The 20th Annual Peace Fair is this Saturday at Buckingham Friends Meeting in Lahaska. The festive Fair features booths from many organizations, children’s events, music and food. Look for me at the Arrows booth – and Bryn Gweled Homesteads will be there, with goats!
This year the Fair’s opening event at 10.30 am is the second stop of the Walking Purchase Healing Journey. Ceremonies for the land will be presented by the Lenape Nation, and historical documents and presentations will be given by Easton’s Bachmann Players. “The Walking Purchase was a dubious treaty forced upon the Lenape tribe by the sons of William Penn in 1737, which removed them from prime hunting lands from Wrightstown to Jim Thorpe, incorporating an amount of land approximately the size of present day Rhode Island. The land grab unraveled the tapestry of trust that had grown between William Penn and local tribes.”
