Below is the link for an Assembly tomorrow (Tuesday) evening on Defunding the Police. It’s sponsored by POWER Interfaith, a regional social/racial/environmental justice organization. The current campaign that the Bucks County POWER group is conducting focuses on equity in education funding. I’d like to invite more Pebble people into this group.
While taking action, the white folks among us have the opportunity to do some study and soul-searching on the roots of racism in our psyches. Here’s a series of broadcasts on the “history of whiteness” that the POWER Bucks team is studying. We listen to and discuss the episodes in Season 2, Seeing White. Dear Friends,
We’re coming together in this moment of uprising to learn, celebrate our power, and commit to action. This last month of outcry against anti-black state violence–building on centuries of resistance–has brought exciting possibilities for change. We’re gathering to explore one of the core demands of the movement: Defunding the Police. We will hear from our Philly Live Free team about this demand, what they have been doing, and to discuss what defunding the police means for all of us across the state.
