I was so enchanted Harvinder, the young woman who performed with Mahan Rishi at Pebble a few months ago, that I asked her to come back, tell us her story and lead us in some more chants and a meditation. She will be here Sunday. She is also leading a workshop in the afternoon. I hope you can some to support her.
Harvinder shares her struggles as an immigrant in America. Her family came to the U.S. in the early ’70’s. She is an Indian Sikh who struggled and faced many challenges. “What I was most confronted by was my identity. Who was I; where did I belong; why was I not “white;” why was I so different; why couldn’t I just be ‘normal’? I would visit Amritsar, India every summer as a child. The Golden Temple was where I belonged, but I didn’t belong in India.”
Her love for chanting and mantras was a seed planted by her parents. It really flourished when she revisited her faith as an adult. She became interested in mantras through Kundalini Yoga.
Phases and Faces of Transformation with Harvinder Kaur at 1:30 pm – 3 pm
Life is created on a daily basis, brick by brick. It’s usually when we feel solid in our growth that the Winds of Transformation, quietly sneak in. After that, we are never the same. Harvinder learned about these phases in her struggle as an immigrant from India, but they are same phases that we all go through on the spiritual path.
In the afternoon workshop, Havinder will share many techniques, tips, and centering exercises that effectively helped speed up her growth and eased her struggle. She will address the issue of inner conflicts. We want peace in our lives and in our world, yet there is a missing component that needs to be examined, in order to cultivate inner and outer peace.
Harvinder Kaur is a student of The Ancient Vedas and the Sacred Text of Gurbani. She has been a speaker and lecturer for over ten years. She is able to simplify and present knowledge with ease and clarity. She has a unique perspective regarding Life and Spirituality. However, knowledge without action is futile, so Harvinder is committed to creating change through conversation, dialogue and by sharing techniques that were given by the Sages of The East.
I hope you can all come.
Love,
Kalie
