Bucks County Lenape request the support of surrounding communities in protecting their traditional land and water from a proposed toxic waste processing and storage facility within 50 feet from the Delaware River, at the site of the old Fairless Hills Steel Mill, ELCON.
Join us in Lenape prayer before and after the supervisors meeting on April 16th, 7:00 PM. 188 Lincoln Hwy, Fairless Hills, PA 19067. ELCON will present its proposal to the Falls Twp. Supervisors during this meeting, after which the Supervisors will vote. The facility will affect air quality 30 miles away and a leak could be catastrophic, affecting downstream all of the way to Philadelphia and beyond. New Jersey is concerned as well.
Also join us on April 30th at Pennsbury High School West, 608 Old Blvd. Fairless Hills, PA 19030. 7:00, Keller Hall Auditorium, where the DEP will announce its decision on ELCON’s permit, should the Supervisors not stop this. They will put themselves in the line of fire if they do. We will pray for them too.
The Falls Twp. Supervisor’s Advisory board recently took a bold stance and advised against the facility (so has our water provider, as our intake is just below site). Some say its proposal to make the facility the toxic waste storage and disposal center of the east coast (Phase 2) could make Falls a National Sacrifice Area. ELCON’s plant in its homeland of Israel was restricted to a remote area far from people and water. Does this sound like Falls Twp. and the surrounding area to you?
The proposed site is only 50 feet from our Delaware, the longest undammed free-flowing river with breeding fish all along its length in the U.S. A place to which the Bald Eagle, symbolic of the creator, spirit, recently returned.
Please help us protect Unci Maka, attend the meetings and pray with us, now through to resolution and at the meeting on the 16th.
