October 6th Celebration

THE WIZARD OF IZ

Featuring Janet Berkowitz

On Sunday, our beloved Janet Berkowitz and friends will present scenes from her play “The Wizard of Iz”.  This celebration will open an important discussion about the intersection of spirituality and mental health.  

In this creative work, Iz is the place where the suffering go.  We’ll encounter Dorothy and the Wizard and explore Dorothy’s existential dilemma.  

NOTE TO ALL:   Dorothy experiences suicidal ideation.

Janet hopes that a deep and meaningful discussion will follow.  Bring your open heart, your open arms, your open mind.

From her poem “True Madness”: 

“Madness doesn’t fit the mold that doctors put in place.

As long as we are separate from God (Love) it spans the whole human race.”

The following Sunday, Gary Schoenberg will teach us about the Days of Awe, the Jewish holy days that began at dusk October 2 and continue through dusk on October 12.
